JAWS anime viewing list 2005-2012

JAWS Anime Viewing List

This is a list of all the Anime that we have seen since January 2005 (or as accurately as it was in the JAWS Schedule Forums). I will update the post as Greg does a post for last night’s meet. Also I will make a print out of the list as it gets updated, so we know what we have seen. I have also made the list to go as far as December 2010, to be added to quarterly.

Sorry about the 3/4 of a year delay; last Fall I had a panic move, and recently JAWS has had to look for a new meeting space.

I have now added the 2005 list from the original JAWS website, which started listing the schedule shortly before Greg Wong took over as President from Karl Reichert.

January 2005:
  • Azumanga Daioh: Volume 1
    .hack//Sign: Login
    Last Exile: First Move
February 2005:
  • Azumanga Daioh: Volume 2
    .hack//Sign: Outcast
    Last Exile: Positional Play
March 2005:
  • Azumanga Daioh: Volume 3
    .hack//Sign: Gestalt
    Last Exile: Discovered Attack
April 2005:
  • Azumanga Daioh: Volume 4
    .hack//Sign: Omnipotence
    Last Exile: Breakthrough
May 2005:
  • Azumanga Daioh: Volume 5
    .hack//Sign: Uncovered
    Last Exile: Grand Stream
June 2005:
  • Azumanga Daioh: Volume 6 (FINISHED)
    .hack//Sign: Terminus (FINISHED)
    Last Exile: Queen Delphine
July 2005:
  • Last Exile: Sealed Move (FINISHED)
Other titles TBA. Retirement night of President Karl Reichert.
August 2005:
  • Premiere run of the new President. Titles TBA.
NOTE: When Greg Wong took over, he did samples of newer shows that were popular: e.g. One Piece. This continued in part for the next couple of months, until we settled into a new schedule – so we would have played these first trial episodes until then.

    Halloween AMVs
Hell Girl Season 3: Eps. 1 (New Series)
    Allison and Lillia: Eps. 2 - 3
(Greg L. was correct about “Allison and Lillia”, because I had checked back in the list and we only had seen the first episode.)

November 2008:
  • Slayers - Revolution: Eps. 11 & 12
(No episode 13, had the video, but had some technical difficulties with the laptop, as both DVDs Ray and I had brought had that episode corrupted, so we were unable to watch the video.)
Kaitou Tenshi (Twin Angel): (series pilot? /OAV?) - part 1 of 2
    AMVs
To Aru Majutsu no Index: Eps. 1 - 4
    Rosario to Vampire Capu2: Eps. 1 - 2
    Allison and Lillia: Ep 4
Some interesting news: “Kaitou Tenshi: Twin Angel” is a two part OVA and so far only the first part is available, so maybe in January or later, we will be able to see the second half of this OVA set. So this is as best as I can remember, but I will update and correct it, once Greg L. puts up his post.

December 2008:
  • Gantz: 1 – 10
    Misc AMVs
    Xmas AMVs
For those who want to know, the JAWS Christmas meet will be on December 31, so this will be a Christmas & New Years Eve Party. Food and drinks will be there, but if you want to you can bring something to eat and/or drink to the party. Everyone is welcome.

This is an update; through the request of Ray, I will be no longer listing the AMV’s, as the list could get too long. One other thing is that the Anime Christmas song, Pokemon was not listened to, as Ray thought that many would probably not like that song. A further note: all but one AMV that I had selected were played.

A note to others, because this was a Christmas/New Year’s Eve meet, and it has been a tradition that we only watch one anime, preferably an anime between 10 and 13 episodes, but gantz has 26 episodes. So maybe we will see the rest over the next few months.

January 2009:
  • AMVs
    Asu no Yoichi: 1-3
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 4-8
    Kim’s AMVs
Aoi & Mutsuki: A Pair of Queens (Mito no Daiboken: Futari no Jou-sama) (sequel to Space Pirate Mito): 1 (of 13)
February 2009:
  • AMVs
    Asu no Yoichi: 4
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 9-12
    Kim’s AMVs
Dirty Pair (TV series/retro): Episode 1
    Allison and Lillia: Ep 5
(Side note: by mistake we played the 2 previous episodes of both “Asu no Yoichi” and “To Aru Majutsu no Index”.)

March 2009:
  • AMVs
Kaitou Tenshi (Twin Angel): 1-2 (FINISHED) (OAV? /series pilot?)
Slayers - Revolution: 13 (finish of first season)
    Slayers - Evolution-R: 1-2 (new series – second season)
    Kim’s AMVs
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 13-16
Ray had found the second part of “Twin Angel”, as it had finally become available, so we re-shown the first one, as we also had some new members he brought.

Interesting note to the “Slayers - Evolution-R” is that that once most of the JAWS members heard that living armor character laughing, we and that includes myself, we all thought of another character that was only shown in the OVAs and movies, but we couldn’t think of her name. So once I got back to my computer, I looked it up on the Internet and checked out the “Slayers” shows and finally found out who it was. It was Naga, although the name that she could remember was Nama.

Something else is that why we couldn’t see the last episode of “Slayers” in November – the original video or download was corrupted, and we saw the uncorrupted version during this month.

April 2009:
  • Bottle Fairy: 1/April
    Asura Cryin: 1
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom: 1
    Kim's AMVs
    Guin Saga: 1
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (second series): 1-2
Strawberry Marshmallow: Encore (special, from the series)
    Hatsukoi Limited: 1
Because of technical difficulties with Ray’s USB (somehow in 1 hour or so time, the USB had become corrupted and unreadable, although it was OK the last time he had used it – and Ray doesn’t know how it happened) we were not able to see the shows that we usually watched on it, so we watched several other new shows instead, which were samples that Ray had downloaded. That includes two episodes of a new season of “Fullmetal Alchemist”, but it is called “Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood” instead.

Also, because of the late start, we only had a chance to watch 1/2 of “Strawberry Marshmallow: Encore” – this is an OAV special – though it is about the length of a regular episode.

May 2009:
  • AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 2/May
    World Destruction: 7-8
    Kim's & Otafest AMVs
    Slayers - Evolution-R: 3
    Hatsukoi Ltd.: 2
    Asura Cryin': 2
    Agent AIKa: 1
To Aru Majutsu No Index: 17
    Najica Blitz Tactics: 1-2
June 2009:
  • AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 3/June
    Allison & Lillia: 6-7
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 18-19
    Najica Blitz Tactics: 3
    Asu No Yoichi: 5
    Slayers - Evolution-R: 4-5
    Ryofuko-chan: 1 (2-part mini-episodes)
    World Destruction: 9
We played “Najica Blitz Tactics”, episode 2 again this month. One other thing is that it is seen as a “spiritual sequel” to “Agent AIKa” according to Wikipedia (not to mention a record number of panty shots!) (The first episode alone has about 122 panties in more or less plain view.)

July 2009:
  • Kim's AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 4/July
    Ryofuko-chan: 2 (2-part mini-episodes)
    Asu No Yoichi: 6-7
    Slayers - Evolution-R: 6
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 20
    Rosario + Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 1
We played Slayers - Evolution-R episode 5 again this month.

Also, we were finally able to see “Rosario + Vampire”, episode 1, Season 2, uncensored, with no random bats! Also, we had actually seen up to episode 2 of the censored version, with bats.

August 2009:
  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009) (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Season 2): 19 (final episode of "Endless Eight" in original season)
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 5/August
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 21-24 (FINISHED)
    Kim’s AMVs
    Slayers - Evolution-R: 7
    Ryofuko-chan: 5-8 (2-part mini-episodes)
    Rosario + Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 2-3
September 2009:
  • Ani*Kuri15 (15 1-minute micro-episodes by Studio 4°C & others)
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 6/September
    Rosario + Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 4
    Asura Cryin': 3-4
    Ray & Kim's AMVs
    Hatsukoi Ltd.: 3
    Najica Blitz Tactics: 5
    Agent AIKa: 2
    Sweet Valerian: 2-5 (5-minute mini-episodes)
“Najica Blitz Tactics” – we skipped episode 4, as Ray likely mistook the episode on Greg W.’s laptop.

October 2009:
  • Ray's Halloween AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 7/October
Machine Girl (live action movie - Japanese horror)
    Kim's AMVs
    Rosario + Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 5-6
Gantz: 11-13 (mid-season story arc ends)
November 2009:
  • Ray's AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 8/November
    Rosario+Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 7-8
    Saint October: 1-2
    Kim's AMVs
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom: 2-3
    Asu no Yoichi: 8-9
    Kiss X Sis (OAD): 0-1 (episodes 1-2)
”Kiss X Sis” has an unusual numbering system, instead of starting with 1, it starts with 0. It is also being simultaneously in Japan, as a manga and an OAD (Only Available (on) Video - video disc).

December 2009:
  • Ray's & Kim's AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 9/December
Ranma ½: OAV #2 / Tendo Family Christmas Scramble
Allison & Lillia: 8-13 (mid-season story arc ends)
    Ray's & Kim's AMVs
    Kiss X Sis (OAD): 2 (episode 3)
The annual JAWS Christmas/New Year’s party was on December 30. A day or two before this Christmas/New Year's party. Greg and I had made some Christmas crackers/party favours, but instead of the usual toys, we put in anime figures, buttons, etc.

There are 3 episodes of Kiss X Sis available so far.

Also, we actually played some of the Allison & Lillia episodes at the end of the evening.

January 2010:
  • Ray's AMVs
    Bottle Fairy 10 (01) / January
    Rosario + Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 9-10
    Kim's AMVs
    Slayers - Evolution-R: 8-9
    Saint October: 3-4
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun): 2-3
    Najica Blitz Tactics: 4 & 6
The anime “To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun)” is a spin-off series to the anime “To Aru Majutsu no Index”, showing only one person from the original series. We actually hadn’t seen the first episode - so we then had to show it in March.

The reason why there was a big time gap between episodes of “Slayers – Evolution-R”, 7 and 8, was because we – Kim – couldn’t find any new episodes until recently. Also, the ending was such, that there was a hint that there could be possible future episodes.

Also, “Rosario + Vampire” 10 had a file problem, because we used a new fansubber, so we will likely be showing the only the end of that episode, next month, if no one new shows up.

We didn’t play episode 5 of “Najica Blitz Tactics”, because we accidentally jumped to it in September 2009.

“Bottle Fairy”, as shown in the later episodes, appeared to jump to the number of the month in the year.

February 2010:
  • Ray's AMVs
    Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 11 (02)/February
Rosario + Vampire (Season 2) (uncensored): 10-13 (FINISHED)
    Kim's AMVs
Slayers - Evolution R: 10-13 (new series) (FINISHED)
    Chu-Bra!!: 1
Ray, who took over as the President of JAWS last summer, brought a survey this month, to determine such things as what anime we should continue playing, and what new anime, and how many episodes we should play each night. Plus we are finally FINISHING some series.

March 2010:
  • Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 12 (03)/March
To Aru Kaguka no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun): 1 & 4-5
    Kim's AMVs
    Sailor Moon (live action): 1-3
    Asu No Yoichi: 10 - 13 (FINISHED)
VS Knight Lamune & 40 Fresh (3rd OVA) (based on TV series (1st of 2) NG Knight Lamune & 40): 1 of 6
About “VS Lamune Knight & 40 Fresh”.. the original series was
“NG Knight Lamune & 40”; it was revived with a second series recently. However, the OAV we played 1 episode of, was the 3rd one - it is known commercially as “Knights of Ramune” - due to the new fanservice aspect, making it popular beyond Japan. As to the "dated" artwork.. the original series was done in 1990-1; the 3rd OAV in 1997, would have closely followed that style, as per the revival of “Slayers”.

With “To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun), we skipped episode 1 in January, so we had to go back and play that, before going forward.

April 2010:
  • Bottle Fairy (mini-episode): 13 (FINISHED)
    Astro Boy: clips
    Astro Boy: 2009 CG movie
    Kim's AMVs
    Sailor Moon (live action): 4-5
To Aru Kaguka no Railgun: 6-7
    Kiss X Sis - TV: 1
    Ichiban Ushiro no Diamaou: 1
May 2010:
  • Sailor Moon (live action): 7-10
    Kim's AMVs
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: 8-10
    Kim's AMVs
Miyori no Mori (Forest of Myori) (2007 TV movie)
Because of a corrupted file, we had to play Miyori no Mori in May instead of April.

June 2010:
  • Marie & Gali (Season 1): 0 (5-minute mini-episodes)
    Kim's AMVs
Sailor Moon - U.S. live action - trailer
Sailor Moon (live action): 6, 11
    Ray's AMVS
Evangelion: You Are (Not) Alone - 1.11 (Blu-Ray edition) (2007 - 1 of 4 in the new Rebuild of Evangelion movie series)
    Ray's AMVs
    AMV Hell 4 / movie 2
Because we didn’t play episode 6 of Sailor Moon live action in April, we finally confirmed the mistake after the May showing, and played it in June.

July 2010:
  • Ray's AMVs
    Marie & Gali (Season 1): 1 (5-minute mini-episodes)
    Sailor Moon (live action): 12
    Ray's AMVS
Evangelion: You Can (Not) Advance - 2.22 (Blu-Ray edition) (2008 - 2 of 4 in the new Rebuild of Evangelion movie series)
    Kim's AMVs
    Fred Perry's Gold Digger (movie - US - 2010)
Protectors of (the) Universe (movie - Korean - 1983)
August 2010:
  • Sailor Moon - live action: 13-16
    Kim's AMVs
    Saint October: 5-7
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: 11-13
September 2010:
  • World Destruction: 10-11
Sailor Moon - live action: 17-20
    Kim's AMVs
    Allison & Lillia: 14-15
Because of technical problems, we were unable to play some of the animes, as there was a problem with the external hard drive as some of the animes got corrupted.

October 2010:
  • World Destruction: 12-13 (FINISHED)
    HighSchool Of The Dead: 1-2
    Kim's AMVs
Cat Shit One: 1 (pilot episode) (CG with furries)
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: 14-15
    Urusei Yatsura (Season 1): 1–2
Just before the JAWS meeting, one of the President’s housemates had unintentionally unplugged his external drive and corrupted it, so we ended up playing some replacement episodes this month, awaiting the problem to be solved.

November 2010:
  • Fuzzy Dan's AMVs
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie - 2006)
Sailor Moon - live action: 21-22
    Kim's AMVs
Prism Magical - PRISM Generations! (OAV - 1 mini-episode / video game based / series pilot?)
Pokemon: Best Wishes (Season 14): 1-2
The JAWS President’s external drive continued to be a problem from last month; but although he thought that he rectified the situation, it in fact had to be completely replaced. So we ended up playing some replacement episodes this month from his the JAWS laptop, until he could bring a new hard drive for Xmas.

December 2010:
  • Cardcaptor Sakura (Season 1): 45 (end)
    Azamanga Daioh: 17
    Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot & Marple: 19 & 20 (2-part story)
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (2010 movie) (DVD version)
    Kim's AMVs
    Ojamajo Doremi (First Season): 45
    Kiss X Sis (OAD): 2 (3)
The JAWS president finally got his new external drive and brought it to JAWS.

NOTES: We played Azamanga Daioh several years ago, including this Xmas episodes, when Karl was president. Also, we weren’t sure that we played the Xmas episode of Kiss X Sis.

About January to March 2011:, sorry, we meant to put them in, but it slipped.

Sailor Moon - live action: 28-29
    Kim's AMVs
Kishin Douji Zenki Gaiden: Anki Kitan (The Strange Story of the Dark Demon) (retro movie/OAV)
    Najica Blitz Tactics: 8-9
Note: Here is some info on the weird "movie" we watched - Kishin Douiji Zenki Gaiden: Anki Kitan - from Anime News Network:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... php?id=333
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=8224
It is pretty obscure. As Ray alluded, Zenki was indeed the original TV series, from 1995. But it is listed as an "OAV", from 1997 - from the Philippines. It would have been issued on VHS - although I would have said the style was even older. The plot is fairly good - however, the OAV's origin - like the one we saw from Korea - makes it confusing indeed; the lip syncing is off, probably to preserve the plotline thru the speech. So yes, it is from older material, and probably issued on DVD, as Ray thought. I am now starting to think, that the terms "movie" and "OAV", may be being used interchangeably, in addition to crappy editing.

About April to September, we were going to post April to June shortly after, but we were tied up with other things. Sorry.

April 2011:
  • Amazing Nuts! (aka Global Astroliner Gou) (OAV) (by Studio 4°C)
Sailor Moon - live action: 30-31
    Kim's AMVs
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: 22-24 (FINISHED)
To Aru Majutsu no Index (Season 2): 1
    Asura Cryin': 5
Note: We played the original version of Global Astroliner in October 2008; this is still a work-in-progress, towards selling it as a TV series (or maybe an OAV?).

May 2011:
  • Kim's AMVs
Sailor Moon - live action: 32-33
    Ichiban Ushirono Daimaou: 2-3

    Kim's AMVs
High School of the Dead: 5-6
Ichigo (Strawberry) Marshmallow (Season 1): 1-2
Notes: Twin Angel was made into a TV series in Japan! Also, we played the Strawberry (Ichigo) Marshmallow: Encore (special) April 2009

August 2011:
  • Ray's AMVs
    Ichiban Ushirono no Diamaou: 6-7

    Redline (movie) (2011)
    Kim's AMVs
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 8-9
Sailor Moon - live action: 39-40
Notes: Jewel Pet Sunshine is a little kid’s anime; but the made-up subtitles weren’t! The Redline movie took about 7 years to finish, and premiered 2009/2010; it is kind of a Heavy Metal (a European animated movie) style that supposedly was totally done by hand and no CG, and that’s why it took so long.

September 2011:
  • Ichiban Ushirono no Diamaou: 8-9
High School of the Dead: 7-8
    Kim's AMVs
To Aru Majutsu no Index: 10-11
Sailor Moon - live action: 41-42

Magical Lyrical Girl Nahona (Season 1): 7-8

To Aru Majutsu no Index (Season 2): 12-13
    Saint October: 10-11
February 2012:
  • Ben's & Kim's pics
HighSchool of the Dead: post-1st Season OAV (1 episode)
Gall Force 1: Eternal Story Movie (1986)
    Kim's AMVs & Greg's videoclips
    Shugo Chara: 1
    Tantei Opera Milky Holmes: 4
NOTE: As this was possibly only the second time that JAWS had a meeting on February 29, we started watching the Gall Force movies from the 1980s. The reason is also that anime had at that time started to go through some major stylistic changes in Japan.

March 2012:
  • Ben's & Kim's pics

    Kim's AMVs
    Ray's AMVs & pics & video clips
